I don't really much care for 411's. At first glance they seem cool, but soon I become numb from the relentless onslaught of non-sequitur skate stuff and want out! The cool thing about early issues such as this are the differences between decades captured for posterity: Jamie Thomas with a blonde 'fro. Peep-hole fisheye lenses on VHS camcorders (no lazy wrist-tilting death-lens shit here). Slam City's street course, consisting of obstacles my driveway ramps nearly rival, and Colin McKay placing in the top three in vert and street!! This time of do it yourself skating has been replaced by hyper-aware, 3 chip camera carrying, media oversaturated-scenesters (thanks in large part to this very video magazine!) Watch Simon Woodstock 360 flip pyramids on a modified surfboard while dressed like a clown, and contemplate where skating's been and where it's going. No-Comply
