ON Video Magazine’s Winter 2002 issue features Growing Pain with Terry Kennedy, Mass Transit - skaters showing off their cars, a Rolling Thunder Australia road trip, and From the Ground Up with Rodney Mullen. Taking up the time between these longer features are shorter segments, in this case Brian Sumner talking about Jeremy Klein and Matt Eversole talking about the giant camera from Man Down, and the obligatory video magazine commercials.

ON’s Winter 2002 succeeds in what must be its main goal: to be even more like an actual magazine than 411. I’m not sure if this is a good or a bad thing. On one side, they’ve got some segments that introduce some of the historical aspects of skateboarding to younger skaters. On the other, we have to sit through pros talking about their cars and commercials (although all of the commercials seen here are from actual skate companies, unlike other video magazines I’ve seen.) The best part of this issue is the Australia road trip with Dill, Getz, Strubing and others. The "Behind the Music" treatment for Rodney Mullen is interesting, but I’d rather spend four dollars and read about it in a magazine than spend the fifteen or twenty on this.
