Got Gold?
Gold Wheels
2002, 32 minutes
Current Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Gold Wheels’ first video, Got Gold? features nothing but technical street skating from such Midas men as Brad Johnson, Marcus McBride, Jason Wussler, Stevie Williams and more. Between these parts are a montage or two as well as a section at the end of the video featuring the flow team riders. As for the music, almost everyone in the video skates to either rap or rhythm & blues.

I must give you a warning. I’m a Nor-cal native and since most of Got Gold? was shot in San Francisco or Sacramento, it’s mandatory that I love it. The true standout of the video is Jason Wussler. This guy destroys the SF pier blocks and besides, anyone who can switch blunt slide up a ledge is definitely worth watching. The editing in the Gold video is what really won my vote. During tricks, valuable footage isn’t wasted on too much run-up or landing. Plus, slow-mo tricks are few and far between, which is a rarity in videos nowadays. Wheel videos are uncommon as is and this one is surely one of the best to date.
