Hollywood Promo Hollywood 2002, 25 minutes Current Rating: 3 out of 5 stars The Hollywood promo video is a series of street skating montages. The occasional miniramp finds its way into the video, but you can expect stairs, gaps, and handrails for the most part. A lot of the video is footage of the Hollywood team being drunk or wild or whatever it is they're supposed to be, but the skating is still pretty top shelf. There are lots of big flips over gaps and flips onto handrails and that sort of thing. It's kind of hard to figure out who's who, but Kris Markovich stands out since he's always on the verge of breaking the sound barrier and Dorian Tucker because he makes skateboarding look so easy. July 11, 2003 Named appropriately, the Hollywood Promo is the motion picture equivalent of a 8x10 glossy photos failing rock bands send out. The skating is amazing, but the replay value suffers in that I just can't stand watching them mug for the camera over and over again. Who wants to watch Kris Markovich chug a beer while he skates down the street? Almost everyone on the team seems so painfully aware of the fact that they're being filmed. Hollywood showed up just in time to co-opt the diluted punk image that's so popular at the moment. This video is shamelessly image-oriented, and it all seems acted. Next time Hollywood should make two videos: one will have all the skating and the other will have all the fancy shots of them getting drunk and wearing tight Guns 'N Roses t-shirts. That way skateboarders can watch the first one and those dudes can sit around drinking Budweiser and high-fiving each other to the second one. Who Farted?
