The Osiris team is known for leaning toward the more technical side of skating, and this video is clear evidence of that. The majority of the team sets the stage with some incredibly technical ledge combinations. Fans of large gaps and handrails won't be disappointed, though. There are plenty of those, too. Even the part from the token vert guy (Ringstrom) fits in with the technical style of this video. Most of this video takes place in California at the same spots you've seen in every other skate video, but to mix things up, there are also some spots from Europe and Japan.

At first, I wasn't really into this video because of the "gangsta" aura that Osiris puts around their company. However, once I plopped this phatty flick in my vcr, I was pleased. I'm not saying that The Storm is a phenomenal video, but it was far better skating and music wise than I had initially expected. Kanten Russell's part blew me away with his HUGE gaps all the way to some bench tech wizardry. Dave Coyne also has an impressive part with his usual creative approach of fingerflips in and out of everything. The absolute highlight of everything is Jerry Hsu's part. Stereolab goes perfect with his body-bending flow. So whether or not you’re down with Osiris, The Storm is worth checkin' out.

When I first bought this video I was expecting to see the likes of Peter Smolik, Dave Mayhew, Scott Pazelt, and Chris Dobstaff throwing down some incredibly technical ledge tricks, and I was not disappointed. I was pleasantly surprised, however, by the fact that even though this video did score an eleven out of ten on my “Flip-in Flip-out Meter”, other styles of skating are adequately represented. Aside from the aforementioned ledge skating, we also get to witness Tyrone Olson and Chad Fernandez conquer rail after rail, Kanten Russel, Josh Kasper, and Chad Knight launch themselves down huge drops, and we even get to see Mathias Ringstrom perform some amazing vert tricks. Jerry Hsu’s and Dave Coyne’s unique styles put the icing on a very delicious cake. In my opinion this video has only two minor downsides, one being a soundtrack comprised almost entirely of repetitive rap and hip-hop, and the other, the unneeded paintball footage between every part.
