Current Rating: 3 out of 5 stars
Welcome to Paradise covers the first year of skating at the Skate Street skatepark in Ventura, California. Construction of this 29,000 square foot behemoth took place from August ’96 to March ’97. The video has footage of amateur skating with the Vespa Contesta and highlights of the Adventures in Plywood Paradise pro vert and street contests. There’s also a two-minute documentary of the construction at the end of the video.

Ever watch someone's video part and think, "Damn, that dude skates the same spots way too much!" How about an entire video filmed at one park? Well it is a contest video so what can you do… Welcome to Paradise is filmed in montage style and it shows both street and vert competitions, which appeals to fans on both sides of skating. The park itself is HUGE (almost 30,000 sf.) and plenty of pros rip it up accordingly. In addition to this, the video is short so it's not too bad at all. My biggest complaint would have to be that they should have shown the entire winning runs of the people who placed first in the pro contests instead of just showing a few tricks. All in all, I would take this video if it were given to me, but I wouldn't pay more than 5 bucks for it.
