Current Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

Thrill of it all is Zero's first video, and Jamie Thomas's second go at filming and editing. This short and sweet video projects a wide variety of tricks on street terrain, not to mention the infamous leap of faith. The video is fueled by a classic rock soundtrack and features the original Zero team from '97. That includes the now famous "Chief," Lopez, Ellington and Mumford.

To keep things in a somewhat positive perspective, I’ll refer to this video as original and daring, rather than poorly pieced together and too adrenaline-based. While the team does pull off some amazing stunts (not really tricks sometimes, but stunts), each team members part is only a few short minutes and is lacking in multi-trick runs and grinds beyond 50-50's and 5-0's. You might as well just watch Toy Machine's Welcome to Hell instead to see the best of Jamie Thomas and to provide you with some substance beyond epic classic rock and large ollies. There are however flashes of brilliance, as in the leap of faith and a three stair drop to 50-50 on a ledge to an 8 or so stair drop. All in all, this video can be exciting, but is too short and over dramatic.

The first few times I watched this video, I found the main standout to be Jamie Thomas' inexperience with making professional skate vids. His tendency to hold the camera about a half-inch from each skaters board got a bit annoying. But slowly I began to see his eye for some visually stunning shots, such as Lopez's intro. This aside, the skating is top notch. Adrian's slick control over his board gives his style the definition of confidence. Also expect to see guys with some serious balls even by today's standards. Most notably is Aaron Harrison, who shows us what it means to really WORK for a trick. All in all, I always enjoy watching this video, but it’s still a little too rough around the edges to completely impress me. I would recommend buying this video, but give it a bit of time to grow on you.
