Fulfill The Dream
Shorty's
1998, 44 minutes
Current Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Fulfill the Dream contains 100% street skating from the Shorty's Team. Halfway through the video is a part that shows the entire crew venturing into the woods in search of a cement paradise, which they arrive upon and rip accordingly. The video is cleanly edited and filmed, with a few cool effects such as Jesse Silvey grinding back and forth to match the sounds of the turntable scratchin'. The video runs about 40 minutes long with a strong dose of rap and technical street skating.

I do not like Fulfill the Dream, plain and simple. I admit the featured skating is impressive, but the constant feel of the usual Shorty's "ghetto-gangster G-dawg" vibe made me feel like I was watching a Puff Daddy video on MTV rather than a skate video. But amidst the Shorty's team trying to look like hardasses, I did manage to enjoy a few minutes of the flick--Steve Olson's part. Yes, that is correct. The man who once lived in a tree house came through with the best part this video has to offer. The grand finale of his part is a kickflip fs boardslide shoveit out on a handrail... ohhhwweeee! That put the icing on the cake for his 3 minute claim to fame. Still, with the exception of Steve Olson's part, I still don't like this video. The lack of creativity in the skating and Muska and friends' "hardass gangsta" image made me wish I still had the 20 bucks I laid down to buy this mess.

This is an absolute must own for even the slightest fan of technical street skating. Even if you’re all about the going big (ie. bangers, hammers, gnar boots etc.), you’ve still got Muska throwing himself down some huge rails and hubba ledges. Steve Olson, who has one of the most unique and cool styles in skateboarding, has a very entertaining part including a boardslide from a roof to handrail transfer. Peter Smolik represents with one of my favorite video parts ever. Here are just a few of his insane combinations: backside tailslide kickflip bigspin out, switch frontside tailslide to 180 to regular backside tailslide to fakie, and a backside 270 to frontside tailslide to backside 270 out. The one and only downside is the segment with the team riding horses. Do yourself a favor and get the video.
